19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden championship since the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt since March of that year.

The win also indicates the Russian has won 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a title is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his last six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

His retrieving strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to wonder if his capacity to play at the highest level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an better service.

He recovered from a break down in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The pair swapped break points in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his initial ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

The opponent saved four early opportunities in a tight final set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he secured the win with a rally at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
